Annual Meeting of the German Society of Tropical Medicine (DTG)

In October 2016, researchers and practitioners of tropical medicine and international health will gather in Bonn, Germany. Focus topics will include, among others, neglected tropical diseases and refugee medicine. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 22 July 2016.

The interdisciplinary programme is structured into the areas global health, science and clinics, and the topics of the specialized societies. Participants will focus mainly on the following issues:

  • Neglected tropical diseases 
  • Host-pathogen interactions 
  • Refugee medicine
  • Malaria 
  • Dermatology in the tropics
  • Women’s health in the tropics
  • Pediatrics in the tropics

A special focus this year will be on neglected tropical diseases, such as Filariasis, which was acknowledged in 2015 with the Nobel Prize for research that led to current anti-filarial treatments. In addition to Malaria, the conference will discuss newly emerging diseases (Ebola, Zika).

The program is supplemented by two advanced training programs in “Travel Medicine” and “Refugee Medicine” for resident physicians.

The 2016 Annual Meeting of the German Society of Tropical Medicine and International Health (DTG) will take place at the University of Bonn under der chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Achim Hörauf. Other societies involved in the meeting including the German Society for Dermatology in the Tropics, the Committee of Women’s Health in International Development (AG FIDE), the Society for Pediatrics in the Tropics (GPT) and the Society for Tropical Surgery (DTC). Furthermore, the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) will participate.

Abstracts for contributions to the conference can be submitted until 22 July 2016. Registration is possible until 27 September 2016.

Along with researchers and clinically active colleagues, the organisers would like to encourage junior scientists to participate.
