GIZ Symposium 2018: Globalisation – Revisited

The Symposium, which is organised by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), brings together experts and local counterparts working for programmes supported by the German government, representatives from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), KfW Development Bank and GIZ head office, as well as representatives from other international organisations, government, academia, civil society and the private sector. Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges

At the 22nd International AIDS Conference (IAC) – entitled ‘Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges – the German booth staged a co-creative art event and provided information on Germany’s and partner countries’ responses to the HIV epidemic. Between 23 and 27 July 2018, the IAC took place in Amsterdam, gathering over 16000 delegates from around the world. Read more


Taking a unified stance for women’s rights in Africa

In July 2018, the Africa Regional Dialogue on Advancing Gender Equality and Rights took place in Nairobi, Kenya. Experts from civil society from all over the world joined forces to explore what remains to be done to realize women’s rights in Africa. At the forefront of the discussions were key issues such as the prevention of HIV, gender-based violence against women, harmful practices and reproductive health and rights. Read more


Kick-off event for a new German strategy on global health

Over the past few years, Germany has assumed a strong leadership role in global health. To further strengthen this commitment, a new German strategy on global health will be developed, led by the German Federal Ministry of Health, in close consultation with other relevant ministries and with input from non-state actors.
