COVID-19: health sector responses

Supporting partner countries worldwide in the fight against COVID-19.

COVID-19 is the greatest challenge of our time, posing an existential threat to the health and livelihood of the world’s entire population, yet affecting each country differently. In record time, every single country has had to develop its unique response to the pandemic, be it in protective measures such as mask-wearing, handwashing and closure of locales where people are likely to gather, in informing and sensitising their population, in organising testing for the virus, in building up or restructuring their treatment capacities to deal with this unprecedented threat, or more recently in the roll-out of vaccination.

In these times of COVID-19, the resilience and epidemic preparedness of partner countries’ health systems can make all the difference between an epidemic under control and unacceptable loss of life, health and prosperity. German-supported projects are actively coordinating with other partners to support speedy, comprehensive and adapted responses to the pandemic in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

What do these efforts look like in practice? The articles, studies, podcasts and events assembled on this page document and illustrate how Germany supports the worldwide efforts against COVID-19.
